How to Report Bugs

Bugs can be pesky, but with your help, we can squash them faster and make Uncharted Sectors even better. By providing a well-structured bug report, you’re not just reporting an issue—you’re helping improve the game for everyone. Here’s how to make your report as effective as possible! The clearer the details, the easier it is for us to track down and fix the problem.

How to Fill the Bug Report Form

We speak English and French fluently, so if you’re comfortable with either, that makes things easier for us. But don’t worry if those aren’t your preferred languages—just write your report in whatever language you feel comfortable with! We can always use translation tools to understand it. The most important thing is that the bug gets reported.

The in-game bug report form is designed to be simple yet effective. Here’s how to make the most of each section:

1. Summary (A Quick Title for Your Bug)

Think of this like a headline in a news report. A good summary tells us what’s wrong at a glance.

  • “Game broke”
  • “Market panel not updating after trade”
  • “Fleet gets stuck after retreating from battle”

2. Email (Optional, but Helpful)

Adding your email is totally optional, but it helps a lot! Sometimes, we need extra details to reproduce a bug—especially if it might be related to specific hardware or settings. If we can’t recreate the issue on our end, having a way to reach out to you could make all the difference in fixing it.

3. Name (Optional, but Nice!)

Including your name lets us know how to address you if we need to follow up. It’s not required, but it makes things feel a little more personal when we reach out.

4. Criticality Level (How Bad is It?)

Some bugs are just funny quirks, while others can ruin your entire game. Here’s how you can rate the severity:

  • Game-breaking: Crashes, freezes, corrupted saves, missions becoming impossible.
  • Problematic: Features not working, AI behaving erratically, incorrect calculations.
  • Annoying: Minor UI glitches, typos, visual oddities.
  • Marginal: It’s there, I don’t really care, but it’s a problem.

5. Bug Report (The Actual Report)

What Happened? (Describe the Bug)

Tell us the story! What went wrong? Did your spaceship spontaneously decide gravity was a suggestion? Did a trade go through but your credits didn’t?

Example:

  • “I tried buying 10 units of fuel, but my cargo remained empty even though credits were deducted.”
  • “My ships stopped responding when entering an asteroid field.”

What Did You Do Before the Issue Occurred?

Context is everything. What led up to the bug? The more details, the better!

Example:

  • “I opened the market at a station, selected 10 fuel, clicked buy, and checked my cargo.”
  • “I assigned my fleet to patrol an area, then tried attacking an enemy.”

How to Reproduce the Issue? (If Possible)

If you’ve seen the bug happen more than once, tell us how to make it happen again. Steps like these help us pinpoint the problem faster!

Example:

  1. Open the market at any station.
  2. Attempt to buy an item while having just enough credits.
  3. Observe that the item does not appear in cargo.

If the bug happens randomly, just let us know!

6. Include a Screenshot? (Yes, Please!)

A picture is worth a thousand bug reports! If the issue is visual or involves a UI glitch, checking ‘Yes’ in the form will send us a screenshot. This makes it way easier for us to see what went wrong.

Final Notes

  • The more details, the better! Even small clues can help us crack tricky bugs.
  • If the issue happens randomly, let us know—it still helps.
  • Your report is only visible to the development team. Your email (if provided) is safe and will only be used for clarification if needed.

Thank you for being part of Uncharted Sectors! Your reports help make the game better for everyone.
